Moufflons end Amdocs’ perfect start
Moufflons (30 pts) beat Amdocs (16 pts) by 8 wickets
Amdocs, having won their first two games, batted confidently against Moufflons and ran up a decent total of 250 for 9. Prathamesh and Shiv benefitted from some missed chances to put on 99 for the first wicket, with Shiv making a rapid 61. Further solid contributions came from Amar (38), Reddy (15), Riyaz (14), Neelesh (22) and Nakul (26).
All six bowlers used by Moufflons were successful. New player Sohail bowled a good spell of quickish legspin which brought him a wicket, and took a good catch off another debutant, Bilal. Murtaza swung the ball sharply and picked up two wickets, but the best bowling came from Muhammad, whose offspin earned him three for 22. There were two stumpings for Richard.
Despite the early loss of Tony to Shiv, Moufflons chased their target rapidly, reaching 102 for 1 after the first ten overs. They immediately took the powerplay, which brought them 74 runs in the next 5 overs. The batsmen doing the damage were Murtaza and Muhammad, who put on 183 together before a tired Murtaza was comfortably caught by Riyaz for 83, with 4 sixes and 11 fours.
Shabbir joined Muhammad who reached his century and the pair saw Moufflons to their target with no further loss. Muhammad’s 113 not out contained 5 sixes and 15 fours.
Amdocs have now completed their group matches and must wait to see if they will qualify for the semi- final stage. With 16 bonus points from this game, to go with two earlier victories, they must have a very good chance, and it is good to see how their cricket has thrived this season.
