In a low scoring game, Mustangs outclassed bitter rivals Kazepis to record a comprehensive 7 wickets win.
Under overcast conditions, Mustangs after winning the toss decided to take the field. The decision paid rich dividends as Vikas got rid of dangerous Shahid Ali in the second over, after captain Harpreet Singh, started with a maiden.
Umair Liaquat and Faheem Rehan took a cautious approach against the swing of Vikas, however, the strategy backfired and as a result had a negative impact on the run rate.
After Rauf Zaman broke the partnership in the 8th over with the score on 34, the incoming batsmen found it tough to accelerate and Kazepis kept losing wickets at regular intervals with none of the batsmen able to dominate.
Eventually, Kazepis finished at 115 for 9 in alloted 20 overs, thanks largely to generous contribution of 29 extra runs by Mustangs.
Mustangs started steadily with captain Harpreet Singh and Rupinder Singh putting on a 52 runs partnership, when Sadiq got rid of an injured Rupinder Singh in the 9th over. Harpreet, soon followed to make the score 64/2 after 11 overs.
However, Rana Bimal and Rehman didn't allow Kazepis to dictate and kept rotating the strike and took the score to 85 when Sadiq once again gave the breakthrough to Kazepis and got his 3rd wicket in the shape of Rehman.
However, it was a case of too little too late, as Mustangs cantered to win with 7 wickets in hand in the 19th over.
Mustangs 116/3 in 18.5 overs won by 7 wickets against Kazepis 115/9 in 20 overs.
