Kazepis were comfortable winners of the 30-over league final, scoring a very competitive 200 for 9 before dismissing an under-strength PWRR team for 80.

Operational calls at Dhekelia meant that PWRR were not able to field as strong a side as in previous matches, but their commitment to attend and try their best was appreciated.

PWRR took two early wickets before further misfortune struck when opening bowler Garroway was injured. Kaleem (39) and Umair (22) put on a useful partnership, but a mid-innings stutter kept PWRR in the game.

Shafaqat and Usman played well to stabilise the innings before both threw their wickets away, and it was left to Manan, with good support from Yasir in a last-wicket partnership, to bring up the 200 by the end of their 30 overs.

The PWRR reply got off to the worst possible start, with Orr bowled first ball by a beauty from Baber. Blagrove and Sully were the only two batsmen to threaten to make a game of it, and progressed well for a while. But after both were out, the rest of the innings subsided quickly, with the Kazepis bowlers sharing the wickets – 3 for Baber and Kazim, 2 for Manan, and one for Usman.

So Kazepis lifted the trophy, with Manan named man of the match. The competition awards for best batsman and bowler went respectively to Blagrove of PWRR and Richard Crossley of Epi Lions.
