In a one sided game, Moufflons put their campaign back on track with a convincing 166 runs win over Akrotiri Cricket Club.
Despite the early loss of Sazzamul Ud Din, Moufflons never panicked and Murtaza’s rapid innings of 33 gave Moufflons an encouraging start.
Bilal (22) and Shahzeb (35) batted together till the 19th over and further consolidated the innings with the partnership of 65 runs.
Babar (49) and Tejbir Singh (Billa) (55*) took full advantage of the platform provided to them and propelled Moufflons to an imposing 245/7 in 40 overs in a partnership of 87 runs.
For Akrotiri, Sam Pamborton with 3 wickets was the pick of the bowlers.
In reply, Akrotiri found it hard against the pace and swing of Jeet (4 wickets) and Babar as the two accounted for 5 wickets between them.
Despite valiant efforts of Sam Pamborton (26) and Aaron Lee (19), Moufflons bowlers and fielders didn’t loosen their grip and the spinners claimed the other 5 wickets to bowl Akrotiri out for 83.
All five Moufflons bowlers used were amongst the wickets.
A match played in good spirits was even more memorable for the young 12 year old leg spinner Dino Michaelides, who accounted for 2 wickets on his Moufflons debut including a caught and bowled.
Moufflons now look to the next game against Kazepis that may well decide the eventual semifinalists from Group A.
