Aspire School dominated the junior cricket tournament organised by CCA and held at American Academy Larnaka on 20 May. Their A team won the event, with their B team finishing third.
Nine teams from four schools – Aspire, American Academy, Heritage and King Richard School Dhekelia - took part in the competition, with girls proving just as able as boys at batting, bowling and fielding. All teams played four matches, with results in the first stage determining the make-up of the final stage.
All games were well contested in a sporting though competitive manner. The three teams which qualified for the top final group were Aspire A and B and King Richard School, and the latter managed to split the other two to claim the runners-up spot.
The winners’ trophy was presented to Aspire A, and the umpires’ choice as player of the tournament was Eva of Aspire B, to complete a successful day for the Paphos school.
The event provided a lot of fun for the children and watching adults, and we look forward to the next tournament at Happy Valley, Episkopi on Friday 10 June.
