Sunday, August 10, 2014 - Cyprus Cricket Association (CCA) held the MoneyGram International sponsored Street Cricket event at University Ground, Nicosia.

The 6 team event, played with tape ball (electrical tape wrapped on top of tennis ball) started at 1030am with a high scoring game between Haider Sixes and British High Commission. However, as the competition progressed the contest became more evenly fought and nerve wrecking.

Over 6 hours of non-stop cricket provided plenty of exciting moments to keep the crowd entertained for the whole day with the quick-fire format rewarding big hitters and intelligent bowlers.

Haider Sixes showed nerves of steel to win their semifinal by a run and then followed it up with a stirring team effort to win the final against favorites “Friends” – who ride their luck and scrapped in to the final after Limassol Bangladeshis dropped the all important catch with 15 runs needed and the last pair on the crease.

At the end, CCA Secretary Richard Boxall presented the winners Haider Sixes with the MoneyGram trophy.

Medals were provided to the winners and runners up and individual best performances award were presented to the players with Usman (Haider Sixes) winning the main individual prize of Player of the Final.
